Månegarm is a Swedish Viking/folk/black metal band founded in 1995. Originally named Antikrist , the band changed its name after a month of rehearsals. Their second demo, Ur Nattvindar caught the attention of Displeased Records thanks to its unique folk sound, featuring violins and female vocals. Before recording their debut album, Nordstjärnans tidsålder the band hired a new vocalist, Viktor Hemgren, but he left the band during the recording of their second album Havets Vargar . Drummer Erik Grossie eventually took over vocal duties. Månegarm made a significant contribution to the development of folk metal, combining traditional instruments with a heavy sound.
