Ляпис Трубецкой was a Soviet and Belarusian punk rock band founded in 1990. The band's name refers to a character in Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov's novel "The Twelve Chairs"—the poet Nikifor Lyapis, who wrote under the pseudonym Trubetskoy. The band gained fame for its vibrant and provocative lyrics and energetic performances.
