Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band formed in 1994 in Reykjavík. The original lineup included Йоун Тоур Биргиссон , Георг Хоульм , and Аугуст Эйвар Гюннарссон . Their music combines melodic, minimalist, and classical elements, and is distinguished by the ethereal sound and falsetto of vocalist Йоуна Тоура Биргиссона . Among the band's best-known albums are "Ágætis byrjun" and "Takk..." , which received international acclaim. Sigur Rós made a significant contribution to the development of post-rock, becoming one of the most influential bands in the genre.
