Ich hielt den Hörer noch in der Hand

Der Dienstag kam, und um die Mittagszeit
Klingelte es, sie waren zu zweit
Eine Dame mit dem Blick des Löffeljournalisten
Ein Fotograf, beladen mit Koffern und Kisten
«Wir sind wohl etwas früh, bitte stör'n Sie sich nicht

Sie sich noch ein wenig, während wir Kaffee trinken
Und vielleicht zieh’n Sie sich auch ein bisschen netter an
Danach erzähl'n Sie mir, wie das alles begann.»
Als ich wiederkam, war der Cognac niedergemacht
Meine Frau hatte zum dritten Male Kaffee gebracht
Der Fotograf nicht faul, in der Rechten ein Stück Kuchen
Begann für's Licht eine zweite Steckdose zu suchen
Von der ersten, die er fand, zeugte nur ein schwarzes Loch
Aus dem es ungeheuer nach verbranntem Kabel roch
Und gleich danach schlug er behende
Für die Lampen ein paar Nägel in Türen und Wände
«Auf ein paar Löcher», sprach die Dame, «kommt's ja wohl nicht an
Und nun erzähl'n Sie doch mal, wie das alles begann.»
«Tja, also.», «Richtig» rief sie, «das sagten Sie schon!
Ach verzeih’n Sie, dürft' ich mal an Ihr Telefon?
Ich müsste schnell für morgen zwei Termine umbuchen
Vielleicht könnten Sie schon mal die Vorwahl von Madrid raussuchen.»
Im Wohnzimmer schrie der Fotograf
Der beim Nageln auf der Leiter seinen Zeigefinger traf
Im Fallen muss der den Vorhang noch ergriffen haben
Denn er lag am Boden, von Gardinen begraben
Die Dame sprach: «Ich ruf noch rasch zuhause an
Und dann erzähl'n Sie mir, wie das alles begann.»
Der Fotograf hatte sich außer Gefecht gesetzt
Und ich hoffte insgeheim: Vielleicht gehen Sie jetzt
Dabei hatt' ich nur den alten Grundsatz ganz vergessen:
Ein Journalist geht niemals vor dem Abendessen!
Und da saßen sie auch schon, die Serviette vor dem Bauch
«So ein Arbeitstag macht hungrig, ganz schön durstig macht er auch
Und wenn Sie zufällig an der Küche vorbeikommen
Ich hätt' gern noch etwas von der Vorspeise genommen
Und nach dem Nachtisch setzen wir uns rasch nach nebenan
Und Sie erzähl'n mir dann, wie das alles begann.»
Als die Dame aufstand, torkelte sie bereits leicht
Und hätte fast noch das Sofa erreicht
Zerbrach dabei jedoch eine antike Vase und lallte:
«Na, is' ja nich' so schlimm, war ja sowieso 'ne alte.»
Ein äußerst heft’ger Schluckauf begann sie zu quäl'n
Zwischendurch versuchte sie, von ihrer Kindheit zu erzähl'n
Der Fotograf war, wie erwartet, sinnlos betrunken
Im Sessel röchelnd in Tiefschlaf versunken
Die Dame sah mich mit glas’gen Walrossaugen an
Und rülpste: «Nu erzähl'n Sie mal, wie das alles begann.»
Ich stand auf und trug schon mal die Scherben hinaus
Löschte leis' den Zigarettenbrand im Sofakissen aus
Begann die Speisereste vom Teppich zu räumen
Rief ein Taxi und weckte meine zwei aus ihren Träumen
Die Redakteurin flüsterte, nach einem Blick zur Uhr:
«Genug getan für heute, blinder Eifer schadet nur
Die Story ist ja schon so gut wie fertig, keine Sorgen
Und Fotos kann ich mir auch aus dem Archiv besorgen.»
Vier Wochen später las ich in der Illustrierten dann
Völlig sprachlos, wie das alles begann
