Er ist die einz’ge Pflanze, die es in der Unterwelt

Rosen vertragen keine harten Diagnosen!
Das kann nur ein Gewächs, das alle Schattenseiten kennt
Das tapfer ist und leidgeprüft und strahlungsresistent!
Er kennt in dem tageslichtlosen Raum das Inventar
Den Schirmständer, die Zeitschriften, den Tisch, das Formular
Er kennt ihn, den Geruch der Angst, der an den Wänden klebt
Er kennt das Schwert des Damokles, das über allem schwebt
Er kennt die Qual der Ungewißheit und kennt die Befunde
Vielleicht kennt er auch schon den Tag, vielleicht sogar die Stunde
Er selber überlebt in ausgetrocknetem Substrat
Savanne, auf die es seit Jahren nicht geregnet hat
Nur ein paar Zigarettenkippen, hastig ausgedrückt
Von traurigen Gelbfingern, sind das einz’ge, was ihn schmückt
Eine nervös verbogne Büroklammer

Des Ficus Benjamini ganz entfernt an einen Wald
Es riecht wen’ger nach Kiefer als nach Desinfektionsmittel
Und dann tragen die Förster hier ausnahmslos weiße Kittel
Und doch erinnert dich der kleine, mut’ge Baum daran
Daß auch auf ausgedörrtem Boden Hoffnung wachsen kann
Und mit seinem gerupften, demütigen Blätterkleid
Vermag er dich zu trösten in dieser Trostlosigkeit:
Du kommst hier wieder raus, wirst über dir den Himmel sehen
Über raschelndes Laub auf einem Waldweg gehen
Du wirst die Freiheit spürn, die Tür geht wieder auf vor dir —
Der Ficus Benjamini aber bleibt für immer hier
