Das Mitteilungsheft, und sein Inhalt ist mir wohl bekannt
Und mancher Lehrerspruch darin hinterließ manche Narbe
Bei einem Kind, das darin immer wie am Pranger stand
Und plötzlich steh’n sie wieder vor mir, all die Kinderquäler:
Das schuppenschultrig-selbstgerechte Steißtrommlerkartell
Die Peiniger, die Unterdrücker und die Erbsenzähler
Der Knecht vom Kreiswehrersatzamt, die Petze von Pedell
Und heute noch wie böse, schwarze Rabenvögel hocken
Sie Nacht für Nacht an meinem Bett und reißen Lebenslust
Aus meiner Seele und mit scharfen Schnäbeln ganze Brocken
Von Liebe, wie Prometheus einst das Leben, aus der Brust
Wieder ist alles wach, die Demütigung, die Schikane
Die Schule, die als einz’ger Kummer sich bei uns einschlich
Als bittere Erfahrung, doch ich hoffe und ahne
Daß unsre Kinder sie lockerer wegstecken als ich
Im Garten sind die Bäume, die wir pflanzten, groß geworden
Der Nußbaum und der Ahorn, das Apfelbäumchen ein Baum
Das Lied des Lebens schreibt sich fort in immer neuen Akkorden
Und was davon verklungen ist, bewegt die Kinder kaum
Alles ist gut, sie müssen neue, eig’ne Wege gehen

Gelassen, froh — ich weiß aus eignem Lebenslauf zum Glück:

In my basement there are three moving boxes full of childhood
The lids closed hastily and placed on the shelf
The departure was so hasty, the owners are far away
