1. Two travelers, two angels came to look for an overnight stay:
In a rich house, wanderers were only given stale bread
And instead of a warm house they were led down,
And they spent the night near the huge rats.
2. In a damp basement, the angels saw a hole,
And the elder in the light of the torch, tirelessly,
Closed up, covered up until dawn,
And, having finished the work, the angels left the village.
3. Two travelers, two angels came to look for lodging for the night:
And in the poor house of the wanderers, the poor man began to treat them.
Although the meal is not heavenly, he gave everything with which he was rich,
And on the master's bed he put them to sleep.
4. The next morning, it dawned a little, they were about to leave.
The poor man and his wife politely went out to see them off,
And they themselves are barely able to overcome the sobs:
Their cow, the nurse, died that night.
5. And the younger angel said excitedly to the elder:
- You helped the rich and greedy.
Couldn't you beg a poor man's cow? |
-
And with unbearable pain he cried into his sleeve.
6. - Not everything is so simple, my angel, - was heard in response, -
There, behind the basement wall, was a treasure trove of gold coins.
And so that the rich man did not know, I walled up the treasure.
I'm sorry I didn't tell you about it then.
7. And this clear night I could not close my eyes:
Death came for the master's wife with a scythe.
I asked her cordially to let my wife live,
And there was nothing more to offer her in return.
8. Not everything is so simple, my angel, our Lord is just!
He wants the chosen ones, we all to come to him.
And we need to hope for His Providence,
Looking with humility at your difficult cross. |
