Леонардо да Винчи расписывал фреску —

Сделал несколько ярких набросков с него.
Скоро фреску дополнил портретный рисунок,
Где Спаситель был выписан, точно живой.
Но другого натурщика, как ни старался,
Отыскать Леонардо три года не мог,
Незаконченным образ Иуды остался,
Кардинал торопил, и давно вышел срок.
Но художник искал его не для забавы —
По трущобам и по захолустьям ходил —
И однажды увидел он в сточной канаве
Человека, чей образ ему подходил.
Он валялся оборванный, пьяный, заблудный…
Леонардо помощников тут же позвал.
И, как времени не было делать этюды,
Отвести его прямо в собор приказал.
Он выписывал, кистью искусно касаясь.
Все пороки, какими натурщик дышал:
Себялюбие, злобу, гордыню и зависть,

Leonardo da Vinci painted the fresco
This "Last Supper" fresco was,

He began to look for sitters for incarnation

But the artist did not know when making a decision -
It was an incredible challenge.
Looking intently into the faces of passers-by,
Leonardo was losing hope more and more,
But one day, to the singing of the church choir
In the young chorister he saw the image of Christ.
And the artist, inviting to his workshop,
I made some bright sketches from it.
Soon the fresco was supplemented by a portrait drawing,
Where the Savior was discharged, as if alive.
But another sitter, no matter how hard he tried,
I couldn't find Leonardo for three years,
The image of Judas remained unfinished,
The cardinal was in a hurry, and the deadline had long expired.
But the artist was looking for him not for fun -
I walked through the slums and backwoods -
And one day he saw in the gutter
A person whose image suited him.
He lay ragged, drunk, lost...
Leonardo immediately called his assistants.
And, as there was no time to do studies,
He ordered to take him straight to the cathedral.
He wrote out, skillfully touching with a brush.
All the vices that the sitter breathed:
Selfishness, malice, pride and envy,
And on the fresco the sitter suddenly recognized himself.
Having sobered up at the same moment, glancing at the fresco,
He exclaimed with longing and fear in his eyes:
"I've already seen this picture once!"
That was about three years ago...
And Leonardo asked: "How is this possible?"
And the sitter sighed: “I was happy then.
I remember I sang in the temple, and some artist
