В воспалённом мозгу уже считали часы,
Стрелками от жизни к смерти уже клонились весы.
И толпы безоружных недалёких людей всё пытались понять,
Зачем же перед смертью этой девочке понадобилось волком рычать?
А то, что мощной лапою, сгребая под себя остатки прошлой весны,
Умрёт она огромным волком, слыша за собой лишь шелест травы.
Тихо под простынёй вывозят её из палаты для снов.
«Такая беззащитная и маленькая!" — скажут, — «И совсем без врагов!»
И в эту же минуту далеко за лесами, до которых лишь шаг,
Под вой огромной серой стаи, где-то в горах тихо умер вожак.

A blizzard began to spin like a children's carousel of blue memories.

The call of flying sparks from a large fire cannot be silenced.
But she could not dream of the warm tongues of a great flame in herself.
In the inflamed brain, the hours were already counted,
The scales were already leaning like arrows from life to death.
And crowds of unarmed narrow-minded people tried to understand everything,
Why did this girl need to growl like a wolf before her death?
And the fact that with a powerful paw, raking up the remnants of last spring under itself,
She will die as a huge wolf, hearing only the rustle of grass behind her.
Quietly, under a sheet, they take her out of the dormitory.
"So defenseless and small!" - they will say, - "And completely without enemies!"
And at that very moment, far beyond the forests, to which there is only a step,
Under the howl of a huge gray flock, somewhere in the mountains, the leader quietly died.
