Wärst du Zweig, so wäre ich Ast
Denn du bist aus mir entsprungen
Wärst du Ast, so wäre ich Stamm
Mein Übermut hat dich erschaffen
Wärst du Stamm, so wäre ich Wurzel
Denn du nährst dich nur durch mich…
Meine losgelösten Augen blicken ins All:
Ich betrachte Lichtfäden
Die mit enormer Geschwindigkeit an mir vorüberziehen
Sehe unglaublich intensive Farben und abstrakte Formen
Die mir die Unermeßlichkeit von Raum und Zeit verdeutlichen
Ich reise an einem Nebelschleier
Von unbeschreiblicher Schönheit vorüber:
Die restlichen Staubpartikel eines Sterns
Der vor Tausenden von Jahren explodiert sein muss
Ich entdecke eine rotierende, leuchtende Gaswolke
Die sich zu einem Wasserstoff-Helium-Ball verdichtet
Und ein atomares Feuer freisetzt
— die Geburt einer Sonne!
Ich beobachte in Sekundenbruchteilen das Entstehen von Leben
Auf einem im All dahintreibenen Staubkorn
— und seinen Untergang
Ich sehe weitere Sonnen schrumpfen oder explodieren
— weißer Zwerg oder Supernova
Zwischen Urknall und Endknall
Zwischen Expansion und Kontraktion
Zwischen Anfang und Ende von Raum und Zeit
Ich schließe meine Augen…
Wärst du Wurzel, so wäre ich Boden
Denn ich gebe dir deine Nahrung
Wärst du Boden, so wäre ich Land
Denn du bist ein Teil von mir
Wärst du Land, so wäre ich Kontinent
Denn ich bin dir deine Heimat
Wärst du Kontinent, so wäre ich Planet
Driftest du doch auf meiner Glut…
Meine losgelösten Augen blicken ins Innere:
Ich sehe die Welt wie durch ein Kaleidoskop
Farbig flimmernd und in ständigem Wechsel
Verschwommen erblicke ich ein faseriges Netzwerk
Aus Proteinfäden, bewege mich inmitten von Fett- und Eiweißmolekülen
Ich durchbreche zusammen mit elektrisch geladenen Teilchen
Eine Membran, bewege mich durch Zellplasma hin zum Kern
Und erblicke die Riesenmolekülkette der Erbsubstanz
Ich schieße durch die DNS
Durch Spiralnebel von Molekülen
Und blitzenden Elektronenstäubchen
Und wieder hinaus in das Sternengeflecht
Des Universums voll leuchtender Farben
Ich öffne meine Augen…
Wärst du Planet, so wäre ich Sonne
Denn ich bin das Zentrum deiner Bahn
Wärst du Sonne, so wäre ich Galaxie
Denn du bist nur ein Punkt in mir
Wärst du Galaxie, so wäre ich Universum
Denn du treibst durch meine Weiten
Wärst du Universum, so wäre ich göttlicher Gedanke
Denn du expandierst im Geiste mir

My detached eyes gaze into space:
I look at threads of light
Passing by me at tremendous speed
See incredibly intense colors and abstract shapes
Which make clear to me the immensity of space and time
I travel on a veil of mist
Of indescribable beauty past:
The remaining dust particles of a star
Which must have exploded thousands of years ago
I spot a rotating, glowing cloud of gas
Which condenses into a hydrogen-helium ball
And unleashes an atomic fire
— the birth of a sun!
I watch the emergence of life in fractions of a second
On a speck of dust floating in space
— and its demise
I see more suns shrinking or exploding
— white dwarf or supernova
Between the big bang and the final bang
Between expansion and contraction
Between the beginning and end of space and time
I shut my eyes…
If you were root, I would be soil
Because I give you your food
If you were soil, I would be land
Because you are a part of me
If you were a country, I would be a continent
Because I am your homeland
If you were a continent, I would be a planet
Are you drifting on my embers...
My detached eyes look inside:
I see the world through a kaleidoscope
Flickering in color and constantly changing
I vaguely see a fibrous network
Made of protein threads, move amidst fat and protein molecules
I break through together with electrically charged particles
A membrane moving through cytoplasm towards the nucleus
And see the giant molecular chain of genetic material
I shoot through the DNA
Through spiral nebula of molecules
And flashing dust of electrons
And back out into the network of stars
The universe full of bright colors
I open my eyes...
If you were a planet, I would be the sun
Because I am the center of your path
If you were sun, I would be galaxy
'Cause you're just a dot in me
If you were galaxy, I would be universe
Because you drift through my expanses
If you were universe, I would be divine thought
Because you're expanding in my mind
