Hab' in zwei Familien gesteckt, Ma und Pa waren jeden Tag weg
Meine Ma von 8 bis um 6 und mein Pa von 8 bis um 8
Haben geschuftet und sich schon fast für die Zukunft der Kids kaputt gemacht

Ich hab Aldi-Klamotten gehabt
Zu Victory-Turnschuhen den viel zu großen, vererbten, vergilbten Anorak
All meine Jungs am C64 und ich zuhaus' mit dem strengsten Ton meiner Ma:
«Setz' dich gerade hin hier am Esstisch!»
Doch letzlich ist’s gerad' das, was ich mitgenommen hab' von damals:
Egal was die anderen tun, ich bin immer ich, niemand anders
Ich hab damals noch gar nichts gepeilt von dem ganzen Mist
Ich war nur gedisst, wenn die anderen Colt Seavers schauten und ich durfte nicht
Dann hab' ich Durst gekriegt auf alles, was in war
Wollt' 'n Mountainbike fahr’n und Amiga spielen wie die anderen Kinder
Zum Geburtstag gab es dann das kaputte Rad vom Cousin

Doch in Essenz hab ich früher gelernt, wie der Mensch ist
Was fremd ist wird abgelehnt und für schlecht erklärt, denn man kennt’s nich'
Letzendlich wär's trotzdem ungerecht, nur das Schlechte zu sehen
Ich gehör' zu denen, denen es viel besser ging: Geld war nie das Problem
Es war immer genug am Start, meine Eltern haben’s bloß gespart
Ich fand’s damals hart, nicht zu kriegen, was man will, doch heut find ich’s
