Вот когти медведя уже у горла, и смрадом разит из пасти,
Ну что же, так видно Богу угодно: мы все у него во власти.
Ружье пополам и нож не достать, но, кровь облизнув с боков,
Пес ринулся пулей и не разжать смертельной хватки клыков.
Мгновенье хозяину пес подарил и с рваной раной в боку
Пес видел, как нож свой хозяин вонзил в горло медведю-врагу.
На землю ложился колючий снег и руки коробил мороз.
