Muszą dowody mieć - zdrady
Dowodem — zdrada.
Ów zdrajca zdradzony
Przez własne siły (te, na które liczył)
Nie może przecież zachować korony
Skoro przez Boga został osądzony
I sądzą go jego stronnicy
Jak zwykle chaos jest przy tym i zamęt
Ulica prawdę waży i rozdziela
O swoją przyszłość troszczy się parlament
Skazaniec łzawy szkicuje testament —
Z myślą o losie Cromwella
Turla się głowa królewska pod stopy
Sprawiedliwości stało się więc zadość
Dla zniewolonej wzór to Europy:
Szafot wszak w końcu biskup sam pokropił

Gdy strach i skrucha były zmian motorem
Wieczorem Cromwell rozpędza parlament

The Puritans are coming!
Their strength is their purity, i.e. the fear of sin
Fear breeds rage, and rage raises;
They go to defeat Christians - Christians
Panting in mist instead of breathing
The sinful king and the anointed defend themselves
He does not feel sorry for the authority so much as for the rules
Regret comes from guilt, and guilt comes from cajoling
But it is not the puritans that wish to reproach:
They must have evidence - betrayals
The proof - betrayal.
That traitor is betrayed
By his own strength (the ones he was counting on)
After all, he cannot keep the crown
Since he was judged by God
And his followers judge him
As always, there is chaos and confusion
The street weighs and distributes the truth
Parliament cares about its future
A condemned man of tears sketches a will -
Cromwell's fate in mind
The royal head rolls under the feet
