Надежда найти затерянный храм угасала вместе с жизнями экипажа, который стал жертвой опаснейшей авантюры.
И вот наступил тот час, когда капитан оказался наедине с собой и своими мыслями - один среди бесконечных снегов.
В его руках был подаренный сыном компас, стрелка которого продолжала свой бег.
Именно это неумолимое движение и заставило путешественника окончить поиски здесь и сейчас.
Паровой реактор корабля, вырабатывающий жизненно важное тепло, был выведен капитаном на предельную мощность.
Оставалось лишь ждать его скорого выхода из строя и мощнейшего взрыва.
Это позволит капитану пробиться сквозь толщу льда и заглянуть в глубины, о возможности изучения которых никто не мог и помыслить.
Прогремел взрыв, клубы дыма и ледяной пыли рассеялись, настало время заглянуть в неизвестность.
Капитан оказался на краю ледяной коры.
Он безмолвно упал на колени и вглядывался в тёмные своды пещер в недрах полярного края.
Время замерло, путешественник больше не ощущал его.
Он брёл по тёмным коридорам и судорожно пытался найти источники заветных знаний: начертания, письмена, свитки - хоть что-нибудь...
Но в конце пути ему открылось нечто большее.
Путешественник услышал голоса, которые привели его к просторному залу, где было заковано древнейшее из существ, земное воплощение природного и технологического начал - Стальное Сердце.

Вторая история (translation)

The hope of finding the lost temple faded along with the lives of the crew, who fell victim to the most dangerous adventure.
And then the hour came when the captain was alone with himself and his thoughts - alone among the endless snows.
In his hands was a compass given by his son, the arrow of which continued to run.
It was this inexorable movement that forced the traveler to end the search here and now.
The ship's steam reactor, which produces vital heat, was brought to maximum power by the captain.
It only remained to wait for its imminent failure and a powerful explosion.
This will allow the captain to break through the thickness of the ice and look into the depths, the possibility of exploring which no one could even think of.
An explosion thundered, clouds of smoke and icy dust dissipated, it was time to look into the unknown.
The captain was on the edge of the ice crust.
He silently fell to his knees and peered into the dark vaults of caves in the bowels of the polar region.
Time stood still, the traveler no longer felt it.
He wandered along the dark corridors and frantically tried to find the sources of the cherished knowledge: inscriptions, letters, scrolls - at least something...
But at the end of the journey, something more was revealed to him.
The traveler heard voices that led him to a spacious hall where the oldest of creatures, the earthly embodiment of natural and technological principles - the Heart of Steel, was shackled.
