Они пели в унисон,
В один голос.
И на вид одним лицом
Был их образ.
Он чуть выше был ее,
Незаметно,
И немного запылен
Южным ветром.
Они шли как будто в шаг,
Как к венчанью.
Но он знал, что не гроша
За плечами.
А когда была беда
И усталость,
То земли она едва
Прикасалась.
Он не видел ее глаз
И ладоней,
Но узнал бы ее сразу
И понял.
Их роднили не ключи
Общей двери,
Свет дневной их обручил
И заверил.
Они пели, но никто
Их не слышал,
И он знал, что не о том
Песню пишет.
И упали удила,
Стыли росы,
Но она не расплела
Свои косы.
Ночь стелила им постель,
Ночь сияла,
И январская метель
Отсмеялась.
И была им пелена
Той постелью.
Он бродягой был — она
Его тенью.
