Ён тут нарадзіўся і вырас ён тут,
Але ў карабельны пайшоў інстытут,
Усе акіяны і моры скарыў
І вось на радзіму вярнуўся стары.
Хадзіў ён, хістаўся па цвёрдай зямлі,
Нібыта па хісткім ідзе караблі,
А мора не бачыў - гарэла душа,
І ромам тушыў ён душэўны пажар.
Вось так і сканаў між азёраў і рэк
Тутэйшы, але ўжо марскі чалавек.
Ляжыць у сваёй беларускай зямлі
У драўляным апошнім сваім караблі.

We have too many rivers and lakes,
And there are no seas, no oceans.
And I have nothing - and there was a man
That for this reason ended his life.
He was born and raised here,
But the institute went to ship,
All oceans and seas conquered
And so the old man returned home.
He walked, staggered on solid ground,
Allegedly on shaky ships,
And the sea did not see - the soul burned,
And he put out the mental fire with rum.
That's how he died between lakes and rivers
Local, but already a sea man.
It lies in its Belarusian land
In the wooden last of his ship.
