Но царице тот мотив был, конечно, не по нраву;
Если стал мой шут игрив — то и я найду забаву:
Пусть узнает целый мир — слух дойдет в другие страны —
Будет ночью славный пир в честь шута царицы Анны!
За дерзость, царица, меня прости,
Ты в милости, как в ярости, —
И в светлый час, и в час беды —
Избавь от царской доброты!
И, позвав к себе шута, приказала так царица:

The merry jester lived at court like all the jesters in the world.
He was young and handsome - more beautiful than all the jesters of the capital;
He hummed a simple tune - he entertained his queen:

Get rid of royal kindness!
But the queen, of course, did not like that motive;
If my jester has become playful, then I will find fun:
Let the whole world know - the rumor will reach other countries -
There will be a glorious feast in honor of Queen Anna's jester at night!
