
Svartidauði was an Icelandic black metal band from Kópavogur, Reykjavík, formed in 2002. The band's name translates as "Black Death." Their debut album, Flesh Cathedral , released in 2012 via Terratur Possessions , received high praise from the metal press, including reviews from Metal-Fi , Lurker's Path , and Metal Ireland . The band also released a split EP with the Chilean band Perdition . Svartidauði was known for their chaotic and violent live performances. In 2022, the band retired, leaving a significant mark on the black metal genre.
