
Lester Flatt (1914–1979) was an American bluegrass guitarist and mandolinist. He is best known for his collaboration with banjoist Earl Scruggs in the duo Flatt and Scruggs . Flatt career began in the 1940s when he played in Bill Monroe band, and he later achieved widespread fame through solo projects and collaborations with Scruggs . Their music, including hits like "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" became iconic for the bluegrass genre. Lester Flatt made significant contributions to the development of country and bluegrass music, leaving an indelible mark on musical history.
