Dr. Hook was an American pop-rock band formed in Union City, USA, in 1968. Known for their soft rock sound with elements of country music, the group gained fame for their humorous and satirical lyrics, often penned by poet and writer Shel Silverstein. Their theatrical live performances, featuring surreal skits and self-parody, became a hallmark of their style. Among their most notable hits are "Sylvia's Mother" and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman". Active until 1985, Dr. Hook left a lasting impression on the pop-rock genre with their unique blend of humor and musicality.
