
Dave Ellefson (full name: David Warren Ellefson ) is an American musician born on November 12, 1964. He is best known as a founding member of the thrash metal band Megadeth , where he played bass from 1983 to 2002 and from 2010 to 2021. In addition to Megadeth , Ellefson has performed in projects such as Temple of Brutality , F5 , and Killing Machine . The musician resides in Scottsdale, Arizona. His contributions to the development of thrash metal and bass guitar technique have made him an iconic figure in the genre.
