Hoobastank is an American rock band formed in 1994 in Agoura Hills, California. The group was founded by vocalist Doug Robb and guitarist Dan Estrin, later joined by drummer Chris Hesse and bassist Markku Lappalainen. Initially playing funk rock, they shifted to post-grunge in 2000 after signing with Island Records. Over 12 years with the label, they released five studio albums, including the platinum-certified "The Reason" (2003), featuring the hit title track. In 2012, they released "Fight or Flight" under Open E Entertainment. With over 10 million albums sold worldwide, Hoobastank remains a significant name in alternative rock.
