alt-J is a British indie rock band formed in 2007 in Leeds. The band was formed by Joe Newman, Gus Unger-Hamilton, Tom Green, and Gwil Sainsbury. Their debut album "An Awesome Wave" , released in 2012, won Mercury Prize , bringing the band international recognition. Among their best-known songs are "Breezeblocks" "Taro" and "Left Hand Free" alt-J made a significant contribution to the development of indie rock, combining unique arrangements with an experimental approach to music.
