Towards a wood where spirits dwell
I follow trails of smoke on the wind
An ancient place forever lost
Flames that climb so high
Burn in midnight sky

They civilise
They disgrace
Foolish minds won’t understand

Daylight shows a grey and barren place
Silent and bereft of life
Trees which once reached to the sky
Now lie in ash like stone
Even in ashes all is not lost
Spring reveals a green against grey
Slowly the spirits return from the sky
