If you think torture and killing only happens far away

Where for centuries It’s people have been living in fear
Where striving for freedom is a crime so fuckin' dear
It’s an ongoing struggle for a free democracy
A call to end all oppression of the Basque parties
Who have been banned from elections though in the majority
We all know that Franco’s dead
but his regime can still be seen

Just so their families have to travel
To a remote part of Spain
Their youth forever lost for their wholehearted belief
and what should be their human right of life lived totally free
When ETA put down their arms and tried to negotiate
time and time again, the Spanish governments too afraid
to face the fact the only solution is to set them free
it’s about respecting the people of the Basque Country
