| I took a rocket to the moon once, on a night a long time ago
| The night I shuttled to the moon was quite a fright and very cold
| Look out the window see the Earth disappear
| The shuttle lands and it was clear — I’m on a rock, oh god.
| I suited up and took my first step on the white dirt we see from home.
| Seven steps I look behind me to see my shuttle, it had flown.
| I try to run in its direction, make my footprints fly.
| I didn’t make the connection. |
| My shuttles home, I’m gonna cry
| And the tears in my helmet made it hard to see.
| My head started spinning and my knees were weak
| But then my ears didn’t fool me,
| From not to far, there was a beat,
| And then some singing, yeah.
| «You are not alone»
| Said the rumble, under my feet.
| «I've been so alone, if you walk to me, we can meet.»
| It was a voice that I’d never heard, but a presence to which I was familiar.
| I glide in the direction that the sound drew me. |
| It was a long way, a journey.
| The white rocks that were below me started to fight with my feet.
| The moon surface below me started to crack apart into a smile.
| It was then that I realized,
| I was standing on a face that I’d seen many times.
| And then my eyes weren’t playing games,
| From right below me, there was a smile,
| And then some singing, yeah.
| «You are not alone»
| Said the rumble, under my feet.
| «I've been so alone, if you walk to me, we can meet.»
| «You are not alone»
| Said the rumble, under my feet.
| «I've been so alone, it was a matter of time
| (matter of time)
| For you to save me
| (save me)
| It was a matter of time
| (it was a matter of time)
| For you to save me, dooo doo doo dooooo
| Do do do
| I had become the savior of the man on the moon.
| I’d stay to solve his loneliness and not go home soon.
| And all we had was this old tune,
| In not too long, we’d kill the gloom. |
