| Old Mr. Johnson had troubles of his own
| He had a yellow cat who wouldn’t leave his home
| He tried and he tried to give that cat away
| Even sent him to Australia and told him there to stay
| But the cat came back, the very next day
| The cat came back, they thought he was a goner
| But the cat came back, he just wouldn’t stay away
| And then he gave that cat to a man in a balloon
| He promised that he’d take him straight up the moon
| The big balloon came down about 50 miles away
| And where that man was living now, no one can really say
| But the cat came back, the very next day
| The cat came back, they thought he was a goner
| But the cat came back, he just wouldn’t stay away
| And then they took that cat and they thought it would be best
| To put him on a train that was going way out west
| The train was speeding down the track and then it hit a rock
| And all the people on that train suffered greatly from the shock…
| The cat came back, the very next day
| The cat came back, they thought he was a goner
| But the cat came back, he just wouldn’t stay away
| They never did stop trying to send that cat away
| They had a different idea every single day
| They even mailed him in a box the whole world around
| But he always kept coming to his own home-ground
| Because the cat came back, the very next day
| The cat came back, they thought he was a goner
| But the cat came back, he just wouldn’t stay away
| Oh yes, the cat came back, the very next day
| The cat came back, they thought he was a goner
| But the cat came back, he just wouldn’t stay away
| Away, away, away, away… |
