| The season is on us when all our dreams come true
| And for a while the spirit of giving is renewed
| And children wonder about the truth of things
| That they say at church or hear the angels sing
| Our kids have two trees, one at each of our homes
| Yours with antique balls and mine with dime store globes
| Their Christmas wish is as simple as it’s clear
| Let their parents pride and anger disappear
| So this year at Yuletide, here’s how we’ll do it
| We’ll put up one Christmas tree
| Then gather 'round it, sing hallelujah
| Peace on earth and to our family
| The kids swear they remember loving years before
| When they heard the neighbors caroling at our door
| And mom and dad were both snuggled in one chair
| Watching wrapping paper flying everywhere
| So this year at Yuletide, here’s how we’ll do it
| We’ll put up one Christmas tree
| Then gather 'round it, sing hallelujah
| Peace on earth and to our family
| And to our family
| Peace on earth to our family
| Peace on earth and to our family |
