| A butterfly landed on my lap
| And whispered little secrets
| It told me flying was fun
| And it’s favourite drink was tulips
| Then it took off and flew away
| To glide off into the distance
| Oh how I wish I could’ve gone with
| To be a butterfly for a day
| I would go up and down, over around the valleys and trees
| I would spread my multicoloured coat, show off to the bees
| Then I’d drink the juice and nectar of flowers I see
| Then I’d find my man, land on his lips and let him taste me If I was a butterfly for a day
| If I was a butterfly for a day
| If I was a butterfly, I’d fly away
| If I was a butterfly for a day
| The butterfly came to see me twice
| In a manner too surreal
| It said the flowers on my dress looked nice
| And for a minute it thought they were real
| We hung out for the rest of the day
| And we talked about our past lives
| We were so different in many a way
| But I’d give up my life for just one day if I could go Up and down over around the valleys and trees
| I would spread my multicoloured coat, show off to the bees |
| Then I’d drink the juice and nectar of flowers I see
| Then I’d find my man, land on his lips and let him taste me If I was a butterfly for a day
| If I was a butterfly for a day
| If I was a butterfly, I’d fly away
| If I was a butterfly for a day |
