| Sitting at home, the telephone rings
| Old girl of mine looking to spend some time
| Now my girlfriend’s away. |
| I can’t see no harm
| A couple of drinks and some talk of old times
| When the cat’s away the mice will play
| We had such good time, a bottle of wine
| With some old friends of mine
| The next thing I knew, we were alone together
| We dimmed the lights, our bodies entwined
| When the cat’s away the mice will play
| Then a knock on my door, a spill of some wine
| I answer the door, and what do I find?
| My girlfriend staring at me, boy, what a surprise!
| Woman in my bed, holding a glass of wine
| When the cat’s away the mice will play
| To make a long story short, she asked how I could do this
| In a calm sort of voice
| And then without an answer, I mean, what could I say?
| I just closed the door and that was goodbye…
| When the cat’s away the mice will play |
