| Lord am I… Born to Die
| Must my tremblin' spirit fly
| Am I born to die to lay this body down.
| Why am I here, why are things unclear
| Why can I not go through life without at least one fear
| Each step I take is a challenge, a lesson destined for passage
| Some sort of test I’ll never pass even though I am the answer
| Satan is the life preserver in this ocean of death
| My ego is titanic, my faith are rolls on the deck
| Jump in the icy cold abyss without a hug or a kiss
| Just the empty promises, that’s if that slug don’t miss
| I know I got to go to judgement but that’s no need to fear
| Well I know I got to go to judgement ‘cause I cannot stay down here
| Tell me Lord now ---- am I… Born to Die
| Must my tremblin' spirit fly
| Am I born to die to lay this body down.
| Lay me down, cover me with worms
| Smother me with the stress that I have purposely earned
| Let my soul fly, as my momma cries
| Then the pearly gates are locked and I wish that I could pick ‘em,
| that ain’t righteous
| but I might just, pray to Jesus, I’m hoping he’s tuned in
| I’m on his porch with a bag of luggage hopin' he’ll let me move in
| See I’m a bad one but I’m still his son though
| I’m at his front door, Carry your sins by the window
| Well I heard the voice of Jesus Say to come on (come on) to me and lay down
| you’re born to lie down now, you gotta lie down now, to lay this body down
| O Lordy now ---- am I… Born to Die
| Must my tremblin' spirit fly
| Am I born to die to lay this body down.
| Life is a blessing once we seize from conception
| our souls become stronger from the stress that we mention
| The windows of redemption are strictly for protection
| When we are stuck in life’s traffic is like a soul prophylactic
| Beginning to fade away, lord take my pain away
| Lived this life the best that could clean up the mess that I should
| Even though we’re born to die please keep that thought alive
| I never fought with pride, I just tossed it aside
| God, please let them angels come, bring me to the podium
| I’m ready for my judgement, I’m just a human interrupted
| Your words I always trusted but my lust kept me flustered
| Hot doggin' in these streets, to be frank, I tried to muster
| Bust up my faith just a touch but I lost it quick
| And got a ticket, the dark side so I switched
| same song, different pitch, I pray that I’m found before they lay, bop bop,
| me down
| Come on you friends and neighbors, you know you’re born to die
| explore your situation now because the judgement day draws nigh
| Glory Hallelujia ---- am I… Born to Die
| Must my tremblin' spirit fly
| Am I born to die to lay this body down,
| to lay this body down, to lay this body down, to lay this body down |
