| They always wonder why I talk that shit
| It’s 'cause I’ve seen a lot of messed up shit
| A lot of messed up kids that turned bad man they coulda been kings
| Yeah
| Every, every, yeah, uh
| They always wonder why I talk that shit
| It’s 'cause I’ve seen a lot of messed up shit
| A lot of messed up kids that turned bad man they coulda been kings
| Anxiety has got me stressing, am I better than this?
| I wanna tell my story, I ain’t looking for sympathy
| It’s like these kids don’t realize how fragile this shit can be
| I was 18, just got put on to the scene
| Out in Boston doing shows, I was trying to do me
| Has a group of friends running around and they was older than me
| A couple of them had some problems with some drugs
| They was in the program, sorry to touch up on the subject, dawg
| It ain’t a slow jam, this real life, I had no plan
| He was managing the club we would all perform at
| I wanted to be famous and he said he had the format
| Homie started managing me and pretty soon
| We started traveling and doing shows, jamming to beats
| We had this one show in New Jersey, Mac Miller was headlining
| The school of rock in Hackensack, maybe it was bad timing
| But homey he was sober, I was young and drinking
| So he drove the car home, I guess I wasn’t thinking
| We’re cruising down the highway, it was 2 in the morn
| Back then it’s no hotel, no getting paid to perform
| My homie’s in the driver seat, starts falling asleep
| I’m screaming, «Wake the fuck up» this dude’s crashing my jeep
| He comes back to life, we stay cruising through the night
| I ain’t think nothing of it other than the dude was tired
| I guess I should’ve realized the bigger picture
| But pretty soon I’ll find out but damn God I miss you
| This ain’t really, this ain’t how shit goes
| No one ever, no one ever knows
| If you feel me don’t let your friends go
| Down that road man, man we all should know
| This ain’t really, this ain’t how shit goes
| No one ever, no one ever knows
| If you feel me don’t let your friends go
| Down that road man, man we all should know
| We all think this can’t happen to us
| But nowadays all it take is a injury to get on some drugs
| He was the plug telling everybody about Cam Meekins
| And then we found out that he was getting high before all his meetings
| From Percocets to Oxys, pretty soon it’s heroin
| And then he found a savior and pretty soon she married him
| And that was that, he skipped town on bad terms
| Had some shit with club promoters, he ain’t hold up his word
| He ain’t manage me no more but you know how it is
| You wanna give these people help, you got your own life to live
| Shit that’s how I justified it and pretty soon
| I had more money and more problems, shit I’m up to my eyelids
| And I’m sorry for the rant but then I signed a deal
| And thought that he was upset he ain’t get no money from the event
| We had a falling out, we all chucked it up
| To homie figuring out his life out, we all shut him out
| And this here is the lesson to learn, most of the time
| People burning bridges on you, there’s a reason they burn
| Sometimes it’s a cry for help but who am I
| To be the bigger person 'cause I’m getting fucked up myself
| Not drugs but the herb, but should I be concerned
| Is it my responsibility when somebody is hurt
| This shit’s an epidemic, right? |
| But still it took me
| Six years just to get this fucking pennant right
| I wish I had the answer, the government doesn’t
| I know you’re listening right now but know somebody who doesn’t
| This dude nodded off while he had my life in his hands
| We can’t talk no more so this is how I write to you fam
| When you don’t do drugs yourself you think these people selfish
| But when you think about it man, addiction is hell, shit
| I’m 'bout to call my homie, try making it right
| That’s when I got the text that he had taken his life
| This ain’t really, this ain’t how shit goes
| No one ever, no one ever knows
| If you feel me don’t let your friends go
| Down that road man, man we all should know
| This ain’t really, this ain’t how shit goes
| No one ever, no one ever knows
| If you feel me don’t let your friends go
| Down that road man, man we all should know |
