| Now awake, my inner fire
| As an image clouds the view
| Giving way under your forceful intent
| Lost in endless corridors
| I try to move ahead, just to be swept away in the undertow
| The depths are all I seem to know
| Arrogant, self-righteous power
| Camouflaged in noble ways
| Fear and love now blur — as logic turns around
| Deep inside the corridors
| Empty lies tell me drowning is the easy way to go
| I almost think sometimes I would try
| Could I but skip past all my other lives
| Dear God, please let me go
| Don’t make me have to do this all over again
| Weakened protests disintegrate
| In the labyrinth of your world
| Have I let your cruel agenda
| Have its way with me?
| As the heavens sing life’s praise
| From a far horizon
| Soon may I see light streaming in to
| Brighten the paths of dreams I would choose
| Life’s compassion never leaves
| And so sets mercy on its course
| Softly spoken riddles urging me back
| Into endless corridors
| The vastness of the tide tosses me like leaves before the autumn wind
| But who determines where I land?
| The choices in my hand give me courage now to walk the path alone
| Through the crossroads of life, I will try
| Weakened protests disintegrate
| In the labyrinth of your world
| Have I let your cruel agenda
| Have its way with me?
| As the heavens sing life’s praise
| From a far horizon
| Soon may I see light streaming in to
| Brighten the paths of dreams I would choose
| Walking, doorways
| I’m walking through darkened doorways
| And I can see a new horizon
| Lifting my eyes to see every step I take |
