| Midnight gave warning
| The Stranger’s cruel arrival
| Would corrupt all the innocence she perceived in her heart
| She heeded it not, and answered his knock
| Suffer me not this moment to say
| I’m sorry for all of the times that I gave
| You nothing but rage. |
| No flowers, no page
| Of soft, tender verse. |
| Though I give this too late-
| I want you to take and place on my grave
| This wild branch of rose so that you will be safe from my endless hell that I
| can’t dispel
| And it’s intricate maze that’s trapped you so well
| Years passed draining
| Her artful soul kept giving
| I cannot take it away- this pain that I placed in your life, but I leave this
| branch- your one respite
| I don’t mean to break, destroy or forsake
| It’s just in my nature. |
| God made me this way
| Infallible of sin, yet you let me in
| Again, and again in the faith that you’d win
| Me over one day. |
| But I’ve lost my way
| I left you with darkness and nothing to say
| To wander in haze, and ponder your days
| And your generous ways I surely have betrayed
| Suffer me not this moment to say
| I’m sorry for all of the times that I gave
| You nothing but rage. |
| No flowers, no page
| Of soft, tender verse. |
| Though I give this too late-
| I want you to take and place on my grave
| This wild branch of rose so that you will be safe from my endless hell that I
| can’t dispel
| And it’s intricate maze that’s trapped you so well
| The Wild Branch of Rose
| Will bloom in place of me
| Forgive my letting go |
