| Tryin' to make London my home
| Come out of the (oven bulleen?)
| I’m tryin' to make London my home
| 'Cos the people back in the United States, I declare, they just don' know what
| in the world is goin' on.
| So much difference 'tween this state and back home.
| Aoooh, SO much difference between OUR state and back home.
| But the peoples over here, aohh I declare, they treat you so warm, so cool,
| so kind.
| I put in for my citizenship papers, and I’m goin' back to London for sure.
| I put in my application, for my citizenship papers, an' I’m goin' back to
| London for sure.
| Because if the good Lord let me live, I’m not goin' back to the States no more.
| Oh I just hope when I get there, on the twenty-ninth,
| Oh I’m goin' to London, I’ll be there on the twenty-ninth,
| And I hope my papers’ll be served, why I can stay there the rest of my life.
| Come out of the (oven bulleen?)
| Goin' to make London my home
| Come out of the (oven bulleen?)
| And I’m goin' to make London my home,
| Because the people back in my country, they just don' know what in the world is
| goin' on.
| Lord, have mercy. |
